Our aim is not simply to create a single medicine.
We view life as a complex system, and connect research, drug discovery and clinical practice. Starting from the possibilities of new medicines, we look across healthcare, society, the environment and ecosystems, working towards future health systems that sustain the health of both people and the planet.

What we are working towards
Advalife Science is a life science group that views life as a complex system of interconnected relationships, and that links research, drug discovery and clinical practice. Rather than confining our work to single-component, single-target analysis, we pursue the discovery and validation of new drug candidates, and their development into medicines, with multi-component, multi-target and multi-pathway interactions in view.
Moving continually between basic research and clinical observation, we have built a structure that carries hypothesis formation through scientific validation, intellectual property, research collaboration, manufacturing and CMC, and on to clinical trials and clinical development. By connecting the pharmaceutical and clinical development functions within the group, we advance our programmes with regulatory approval in view.
For us, creating a medicine is not the end point. We regard human health as a single system in which healthcare, society, the environment and ecosystems all interact, and we aim to carry the results of our research through into the health systems of the future.

The health of people and the planet
Life and health are complex systems that cannot be explained by their individual parts. The human body exists within layers of interaction — the living environment, social institutions, ecosystems. As we connect research, drug discovery and clinical practice, we also regard health as a single system that extends into the environment and society, and we treat human health and planetary health as one continuous question.
Three perspectives
Environment
Human health cannot be separated from the environment — the air, the water, the soil. We widen our view to the environmental factors that sit outside medicine, and look at how they interact with life and health.
Social systems
Scientific knowledge and new treatments acquire value only when they connect with healthcare systems, delivery structures and the means of reaching society. We consider the mechanisms that carry research through into practice.
Ecosystems
Human health cannot be separated from the health of ecosystems. We do not confine life science to people alone, but take in its interaction with the wider ecosystem.
Environment
Human health cannot be separated from the environment — the air, the water, the soil. We widen our view to the environmental factors that sit outside medicine, and look at how they interact with life and health.
Social systems

We place importance on reinvesting the knowledge and value generated by our work into research, education, healthcare and the environment. Through research support and endowed courses at universities and research institutions, the development of the next generation, and work in healthcare, local communities and the environment, we aim for a circulation of social value that reaches beyond short-term business results.
