Our Definition
What we mean by social value
Human health is not settled by medicine alone. The research and education that underpin science and medicine, access to care, society itself, and the environment — the air, the water, the ecosystem — are all bound up with one another.
Just as we view life as a complex system, Advalife Science treats human health and the society and environment around it as one continuous question. Circulating the knowledge and value generated by research, drug discovery and clinical practice back into research, education, healthcare and the environment is, for us, part of the social value we create.
Research & Education
Through joint research with universities and research institutions, research support and endowed courses, we support the research and education base from which basic research, new academic fields and the next generation of researchers and medical professionals emerge. We respect the independence of research and the principle of scientific integrity, and aim for academic value that is not confined to short-term business results.

Environment & Planetary Health
Human health cannot be separated from the environment and the ecosystem in which a person lives. We look at the air, water, soil and ecosystems that sustain health from the standpoint of planetary health, and build long-term support and collaboration from there.
AIR
Air and health
We examine the relationship between the atmospheric environment and human health from the standpoint of planetary health, and pursue work that leads to research, support and collaboration.
WATER
Water and health
We treat a safe and sustainable water environment as one of the foundations of human health and of the ecosystem, and pursue work that leads to research, support and collaboration.
This thinking runs alongside the theme of Future Health Systems, the international symposium presented in collaboration with Nature Partnerships and held at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, in October 2026.Learn more
Value Reinvestment
Advalife Science places importance on reinvesting the knowledge and value generated by research, drug discovery and medicine into research, education, healthcare and the environment. Through research support, the development of people, support for healthcare and society, and work on the environment, we aim for a long-term circulation of social value.
