Life is more than the sum of its parts.
It is a complex system in which molecules, cells, tissues, the immune system, metabolism, and many other elements interact across multiple levels to maintain homeostasis. At Advalife Science, we build on the rigorous analysis of individual components while viewing life as a complex system, and we work to discover and develop novel drug candidates.
The foundation of our research and development lies in bringing phenomena observed in clinical practice back into research as new hypotheses, and scientifically investigating the biological mechanisms that may underlie them. By creating a continuous cycle between research, drug discovery, and clinical practice, we carry the knowledge gained forward to new questions and advance it toward intellectual property, manufacturing and CMC, and clinical development. Throughout this process, we remain committed to clearly distinguishing what is known from what is not yet known, and to approaching every piece of data with scientific integrity.

For thirty years Masatomo Abe has worked in the clinical development of medicines, particularly in immunomodulators, antibody drugs and oncology. He has taken part in the clinical development and launch of several medicines, including medicines now used as first-line treatments in clinical practice.
Working closely with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Masatomo Abe also established the Biostatistics Center at Kurume University.This was the first university department in Japan for clinical statistics to be founded within a medical faculty, and its mission has been to train biostatisticians and so strengthen life science in Japan.
